Overview

The world is divided up into a vast variety of regions. There are Towns where you are safe and can chat with other players; there are Fields, the regions right out of towns where you can encounter wild monsters; finally there are Dungeons, where more challenging travels await.

Finding Where You are

Use the /where command in the chatbox to find out where you are. You will get a map name and coordinates. If you're completely lost and have some friends, you can give them your location and they'll find you.
Tip: Remember, you have a World Map to help you find your way if you get lost.

Traveling

Getting from place to place is a common task you will need to do. There are many ways to get around.

Returning to your Save Point

Each character will have a save point. This is the place where you will return to if all goes wrong (for example, you get killed). To set your save point, find a Kafra in one of the cities (you can ask around if you don't know where).
If you get lost in your journeys and just want to get home, you can return to your save point by dying, using a Butterfly Wing Butterfly Wing item, or relogging (going to the "select character" screen and back) on certain maps.

I'm new to RO, what should I play for my first class?

For solo farming

  • Hunter (DS - Double Strafe)
    • Archer's second class
    • Pros: High DPS, super long attack range, Good dodge and accuracy (agi & dex), elemental arrows helps in improving damage.
    • Cons: Consumes arrows very fast, low HP, fast SP consuming
  • Knight (BB - Bowling Bash)
    • Swordman's second class
    • Pros: Good survivability, fast regeneration, multi-target attack skills, and high mobility with mount.
    • Cons: Melee
  • Mage Classes (Both Sage and Wizard)
    • Pros: Long-ranged magic caster, high early game damage, free leveling.
    • Cons: Low survivability
  • Priest (TU - Turn Undead)
    • Acolyte's second class
    • Pros: Fast solo leveling, free teleportation, can still function as a support.
    • Cons: Slow leveling when Acolyte.
  • Rogue (Auto steal)
    • Thief's second class
    • Pros: Auto steal items from monster before they die, efficient farmer, point and click gamestyle.
    • Cons: Weak versus high def monsters, relies on attack speed to be efficient.

For players who want to form a team

  • Supports
    • Priest (Full support)

    • Cons: Fully supportive class also mean no soloing play.
  • Bard and Dancer
    • Pros: Have many supportive skills, can still soloing with DS.
    • Cons: Boring leveling, low survivability.

How to find a party

  • Use #main

Parties looking for members: LFM > [ class / role ] [ level range ] for [ map / monster ] (e.g: LFM > songs 70+ for magdun2)
  • Use Adventurer's Agency (Ctrl + Z)

What do I need to do first?

  • After creating a character and starting the game, the place you stand is Valiant Realm.
  • When you finish talking to the Goddess and her servant, you will reach level 8/8, receive the following items, and be taken to the Beginner Island.
    • 7271.gifNovice Figure
    • 2112.gifNovice Guard
    • 13041.gifNovice Main Gauche
    • 2414.gifNovice Slipper
    • 2393.gif Tattered Novice Ninja Suit
  • Talk to Marshal, he will introduce you to the NPCs on the island, give you Butterfly Wing1 Butterfly Wing, Novice Potion 500 Novice Potions, and teleport to the map where you can fight with monsters.
  • The location you go to is Prt_fild08, move down to the 6 o'clock direction of the map, that's Moc_fild01 and find Baby Wolf, EXP will come up faster.
  • When you reach job level 10, return to Beginner Island by using Butterfly Wing Butterfly Wing.
  • Find the NPC Job Master standing somewhere in the village and choose the job you want (keep in mind that you need to use all your skill points (Alt+S), otherwise the NPC will refuse to change your job)
  • Once you've changed jobs, go to NPC Melody to do the quest to receive the beginner equipment set, this will help a lot in the leveling process so don't be lazy.
  • Don't forget to visit the NPC Leveling Guide to receive exciting experience-granting quests.
  • Tip: Click on the NPCs you meet and read their dialogue, sometimes it will be very useful.
